MACRODIFF PLAYBOOK
How to think about Leona
Strengths, limits and power windows before you copy a build.
Strength profile
Chain with an ally
E and Q create follow-up windows while allied damage consumes Sunlight. Start when your carry can participate rather than treating the combo as solo damage.
Defenses before contact
W can cover the incoming response if active before you enter. Its extended defenses depend on the detonation hitting an enemy.
Peel without a dash
Q's empowered attack can stop an in-range diver. You do not need to spend E away from your carry to contribute control.
Watch-outs
E selects the last champion
When multiple champions line up, check who E will carry you toward. Your intended frontline target may not be the last one struck.
R edge is a slow
Only R's center stuns. A follow-up that assumes every hit is a stun can misjudge how quickly the enemy moves or responds.
Entry needs an exit plan
Once E carries you forward, W does not teleport you back. Count allies, wave damage and enemy reinforcements before committing.
Power windows
Q / E learned
Follow-up access
The entry becomes useful when both control and allied follow-up are available. Level alone does not make an unfavorable wave safe to engage through.
W available
Cover return damage
Time the defenses before contact and watch whether the detonation connects. Do not assume the extension when the enemy moves away.
R learned
Center versus edge
R offers a ranged opening or peel, with different control at the center and edge. Confirm the result before choosing to follow.
Objective setup
Control the entrance
Arrive with teammates and vision before the objective. Your threat can hold an entrance without spending every cooldown on the first enemy seen.
ROLE PLAN
Lane and tempo checklist
Threaten alongside your carry
Stand where your carry can follow an E hit. If they are collecting a large wave, protect that income instead of demanding an isolated all-in.
W before the response
Activate W before taking the return trade, then confirm E and deliver the Q attack. Do not describe pressing Q alone as the stun landing.
Roam after checking the wave
Move toward river with a safe return route when your carry can collect the wave. A roaming opportunity is not permission to abandon a threatened lane.
5V5 PLAN
Team-fight responsibilities
Name the first target
Choose a target allies can reach and check R's center before E. Do not follow the first available dash if it separates you from team damage.
Layer control deliberately
After a confirmed stun or root, time the next control to preserve useful duration. Overlapping every spell can waste the window allies need.
Turn back when the diver arrives
If the carry becomes the immediate target, Q and R can support a defensive response. Continuing to chase may leave the only damage source unprotected.
