MACRODIFF PLAYBOOK

How to think about Ornn

Strengths, limits and power windows before you copy a build.

Strength profile

Create your own terrain

Q's delayed pillar can supply terrain for E. Position the pillar relative to the opponent's exit, not only where the initial fissure hits.

Brittle follow-up

W's final flame applies Brittle for an attack or immobilizing follow-up. Coordinate the next control effect rather than treating the first flame as the trigger.

Long-range team access

R can bring a fight toward the team, then R2 redirects the elemental. The second cast must meet the elemental, not a nearby wall.

Watch-outs

Wait for the pillar

An E through empty space does not create the terrain-collision knockup. Check that Q's pillar has appeared before committing the dash.

W does not make you immortal

W's movement protection is not unlimited damage immunity. Check incoming damage and the exit after the breath instead of absorbing everything.

R2 needs space and timing

Missing the elemental collision loses the redirected knockup. Avoid spending your position so aggressively that you cannot meet the returning elemental.

Power windows

Q and E learned

Pillar timing

Practice waiting for the terrain before E, then repeat near a natural wall. Keep the collision requirement explicit in both versions.

W available

Final flame matters

A full W connection creates a Brittle follow-up window. If the final flame misses, do not assume the empowered interaction is available.

R available

Two distinct passes

The incoming elemental and redirected elemental have different control effects. Plan where you will meet it before casting R1.

Masterwork access

Team upgrade planning

Check current passive eligibility and allied inventories before an upgrade. This guide does not assume a fixed item list or patch-independent upgrade level.

ROLE PLAN

Lane and tempo checklist

Farm with an exit

Use Q to reach contested minions while preserving E for retreat. Only turn the pillar into an engage when the wave and jungle information support it.

Choose the final-flame trade

Time a short trade so W's final flame can connect, then attack if safe. Chasing Brittle through a large enemy wave can reverse the trade.

Forge in a safe window

The passive can reduce some shopping trips, but it does not refill health or mana. Decide separately whether staying in lane is sustainable.

5V5 PLAN

Team-fight responsibilities

Draw the fight line

Cast R through space your allies can reach. A distant hit with no follow-up may be less valuable than zoning an approach to the objective.

Redirect, then reassess

Meet the elemental with R2 and check the new spacing before E. The ultimate and terrain dash are separate control tools with separate conditions.

Protect the damage line

If enemies dive past you, turn Q/E space and Brittle follow-up toward them. Frontline value is not measured by distance from your own carries.
