MACRODIFF PLAYBOOK
How to think about Lee Sin
Strengths, limits and power windows before you copy a build.
Strength profile
Two-part decisions
Q1 reveals a possible entry; Q2 chooses it. Hitting the first cast gives information and an option, not an obligation to dash.
Energy through attacks
The passive rewards attacks after abilities with Energy return. During a safe clear, interleave attacks rather than spending every recast immediately.
W changes the route
W1 can reach an ally or ward, enabling a different approach or retreat. Track a valid target and W availability before planning the hop.
Watch-outs
Q2 can overcommit
The marked target's location can change before you follow. Recheck nearby allies, enemies and your W exit instead of taking Q2 automatically.
E1 is not the slow
E1 must connect before E2 can apply its slow. A plan that ends at the first E has not yet delivered the slowing effect.
A kick can rescue an enemy
R displaces away from Lee Sin. Check the destination before pressing it; impressive movement has no value if it removes the target from allied damage.
Power windows
First clear
Energy discipline
Measure whether passive attacks keep the next ability available. Do not label one cast order optimal without a timed in-game clear test.
Q / W available
Access and retreat
Having both tools creates more route options. Spending W on entry changes what a safe Q2 destination looks like.
R learned
Displacement choice
R adds target displacement and collision potential. Practice the target's landing direction before combining it with ward or Flash movement.
Grouped fights
Utility over forced entry
When a carry cannot be reached safely, protecting your own damage source can be the better use of R and W.
ROLE PLAN
Lane and tempo checklist
Clear with passive rhythm
Use safe attacks between casts to sustain Energy, then route toward a lane with follow-up. This is not a fixed fastest-clear sequence or timer.
Approach before spending Q
If walking or W can get you near safely, keep Q for the enemy's response. A closer line may be easier than a blind maximum-range attempt.
Objective fight before objective finish
Check lane priority and Smite availability before entering a contested pit. Q2's missing-health damage does not guarantee an objective steal.
5V5 PLAN
Team-fight responsibilities
Choose a kick destination
Before an engage, identify where the target should land and who can follow. If that route is unsafe, keep R for a diver instead.
Peel is a complete job
R can remove a threat from your carry without a backline dive. W's ally shield can support that defensive choice.
Keep an exit target
After Q2, look for a valid W target before chaining more damage. Available Energy and cooldowns matter more than replaying a memorized sequence.
